The Haiyan/Yolanda Typhoon in the Philippines

CNN reported yesterday as the aftermath of the super typhoon becomes visible, “Haiyan Batters the Philippines”. Identified as one of the strongest storm ever recorded with its sustained winds at approximately 195 mph, gusting to 235 mph, leaving immense wreck to our land and up to 1,200+ feared dead.

Been watching news report on various channels, reading online feeds and my heart is crashing seeing what this typhoon did to the Visayan region of our country. Drowned bodies. Lost children. Desperate plead of mothers. Missing relatives. Crumpled homes. Rubbles on the road.  Thousands of people perished. Suffering, so much suffering as if the earthquake that devastated Bohol last October 15, 2013 is not enough to test the brave spirits of Filipinos.

We just can’t watch this happening and do nothing. Please let us elevate the will to help. There is no big or small reach this time. No huge or little amount. No gigantic or tiny effort. But just give help the best way we can.

Get in touch with Red Cross, UNICEF, World Vision, Caritas, or any of your trusted humanitarian groups providing aid to the people of Tacloban, Leyte and other cities under calamity. Rappler provided some organizations that you can contact:  http://bit.ly/1gxTGtu

ABS-CBN Sagip Kapamilya listed the following urgent needs (http://bit.ly/1cK558T) :

  • Medicines
  • Food
  • Water
  • Mats
  • Hygiene products
  • Mosquito nets
  • Insect repellents
  • Flashlights

May it be cash or goods, the most important is we deliver the help.

And yes our strongest ally in this havoc is prayer; please pray for the Philippines. Our country can surpass this with legions of prayers echoing to the heavens.  We are all in this together.
